Founded in 1959, today School Specialty is the leading provider of educational ecosystems to educators across North America. Their unmatched depth and breadth of products include everything from learning environments, furniture, and equipment, to safety and security products, educational technology, school and office supplies, curriculum, and supplemental learning curriculum materials. The Project Management Office was struggling with managing its projects and resources through a multitude of Excel spreadsheets and difficulty collaborating with its external vendors. Road mapping and long-term planning were disconnected from resources or other timelines, making it virtually impossible to accurately forecast capacity.
OnePlan stood out to School Specialty due to its alignment to Microsoft technologies and accelerated but supported KickStart implementation approach. The PMO wanted to leverage role-based requirements, in terms of estimates, and incorporate it into capacity planning. OnePlan now serves as the company’s end-to-end project and resource management solution. It enables School Speciality to integrate the planning and execution stages of project & product delivery and is the system of record for its planning, forecasting, status and time tracking. They also integrate with Teams as a familiar collaboration platform that supports external vendor collaboration.
